80% Arms Introduces World’s First Modular Polymer Pistol, GST-9
80% ARMS has just released a complete GST-9 pistol kit containing everything needed to build a Generation 1-3 Glock® at a production-level price. The GST-9 is the world’s first truly modular 80% pistol frame system compatible with Glock® 19 Gen 1-3 platform components.
“Customers will be able to go from opening the mail to a competition or defense-ready pistol in under 15 minutes,” said Jeff Phillips, Operations Manager.
The GST-9 capitalizes on all the strengths of the Glock while incorporating popular aftermarket upgrades as standard features. Patent-pending modular grips allow for easy conversion between compact and full-size frames. Ergonomics have been improved by designing a contoured grip that improves comfort and gives superior control. An undercut trigger guard gives shooters a higher grip on the frame, lowering the bore-axis and reducing muzzle flip for faster, more accurate follow-up shots.
Customer-Requested Features improve on the Classic Glock Platform
“We spent two years studying customer feedback to determine what features were missing among the different options in the market. We incorporated what we found and gave customers the option to choose how to build each frame,” said Sheehan Hsu, Senior Design Engineer.
The GST-9 features several functional improvements over the time-tested Glock® platform, starting with the mating surface between the slide and frame. Frame rails are extended three times their normal length for more repeatability, better accuracy, and controlled recoil impulse. Nickel-Boron coated rails, which are three-times original OEM length, keep tolerances tight and recoil managed for quick, precise shooting. Of note, the GST-9 does not accept Glock 17 slides. The GST-9 frame accepts Glock 19 and Glock 19L slides.
Completing the Kit
Due to recent ATF regulations, the jig and frame rails for the GST-9 must be purchased separately from the GST-9 80% lower. Each jig includes one set of GST-9 frame rails. Frame rails are included with the jig, not with the 80% lower itself.
The company indicates on its website that, due to overwhelming demand for the GST-9 during a pre-order sale in May, there is a long waiting list to receive these kits. 80% Arms states that they are manufacturing GST-9s at maximum capacity and shipping them out in the order purchases have been received.
