KSA 91/30 “Mini-Mosin” 22LR

A collective gasp echoed across various channels by those obsessed with Soviet small arms. Keystone Sporting Arms, makers of the Crickett and Chipmunk youth rifles, dropped the KSA 91/30 “Mini Mosin” teaser on social media just two weeks before the NRA Annual Meetings.

The Mosin has long been a favorite of collectors due to its low cost and availability. Recreating the Mosin in 22lr is a smart move from a company that specializes in 22lr single shot youth rifles. Not only does it bring attention to Keystone Arms but is a perfect way to introduce younger shooters to classic firearms.

What we know is that the KSA 91/30 features a 20″ barrel, is a single shot 22lr and has a walnut stock. With an MSRP of $399.96, this places the Mini Mosin slightly higher than a vintage Mosin in 7.62x54R.

There is also a Special Edition for the first 500 pre-orders with an MSRP on the Special Edition is $499. Included for that prices are a custom wooden crate with matching serial numbers, a certificate of authenticity and more. Although the “more” is not the sling shown in the photo. Mark your calendars because the pre-order opens on April 25th which happens to be the start of the NRA Annual Meetings.

So if you are thinking “That is interesting but why?” let’s talk about that for a minute. First having an iconic looking firearm in a youth model is a great way to keep younger shooters engaged. Now a young shooter can take their Mini Mosin and shoot it alongside their parent’s full-size variant. Also, it’s a 22lr Mosin Nagant! How can you not be excited by this even if you never buy one?

What Keystone has created is a buzz around a company that has for many years created just a handful of products. Wither they sell or not this is great marketing for the company. But who are we kidding they are going to sell like crazy.
