SHOT Show Recap Day 1
The International Sportsman recap of what the editors found interesting on day 1 of SHOT Show 2020. There are more articles and videos coming out but here is a preview of some interesting items at the show.
WOOX Chassis System
The WOOX chassis is a unique product that combines European style with modern accuracy. When you first look at the chassis, you might think it is a wood stock, and you would be wrong. It is an aluminum chassis that can accept different stocks and forearms. The wood does not touch the rifle, so think of it as adding some style to an aluminum chassis.
It is currently offered in 3 different configurations. Entry-level on the bottom of the photo is the Wild Man, which comes in at $499. This is a more traditional stock design from the top stock that is the Exactus precision shooting stock, which adds a Picatinny rail on the bottom of the stock and an adjustable cheekpiece and is $599. The flagship model in the middle of the picture is the Furiosa chassis. This chassis has Picatinny mounts on the forearm on both sides and the bottom as well as the bottom of the stock. The stock features an adjustable cheek riser, length of pull, as well as cant. The Furiosa has an MSRP of $999.
All of the chassis are designed in Italy, and the European styling is evident. Currently, they are offered in Remington 700 short and long action as well as Sauer 100 actions. The company plans to add compatibility for new actions ever three months.
The thing that we found interesting is no matter which chassis you purchase; you can change out the stock and forearm. So if you go for the entry-level stock and decide you want MLOK on the front, then you just by the MLOK forearm. It’s the same for the stock; they can be switched out. This allows you to have a hunting rifle and a range gun in one chassis.
MDT XRS Crossover Rifle Stock
The MDT XRS chassis has full MLOK on the forearm and the stock. It is a full aluminum V block bedding. It ships with two grips and has an adjustable length of pull and cheek rest. Available currently in Remington 700, but Howa, Tikka, and Ruger American models are on the way. Weight is 4 pounds, and the MSRP is $499. More on this chassis soon.
Spartan Precision Javelin Pro Hunt Bipod
New this year from Spartan Precision is the Javelin Pro Hunt Bipod, the latest in their popular Javelin line. The Pro Hunt is slightly over 6oz and is available in a standard and long leg version. The standard extends from 6.8″-9″ and the long version extends from 8″-12″. The bipod uses the ’Spartan Magnetic Attachment System’ and can be instantly attached or detached to or from a rifle, using one of the rifle adapter options.
Features include the ability to lock the cant, fix the traverse action, and change out the carbon fiber legs for longer or shorter versions. MSRP is $328.15
Accuracy Solutions BipodeXt
The Bipodext by Accuracy Solutions is a mounting system for your bipod that pushes the bipod further from the shooter. With the bipod toward the front of the rifle, the small movements by the shooter and not as exaggerated, allowing you to take more accurate shots.
The BipodeXt is made from American made carbon fiber tubes coupled with 6061 T6 aluminum components, all precisely engineered and manufactured in Southern California. The low profile, quick detach, mounting systems in either Picatinny or Arca/Dovetail configurations. There are several different lengths available, and price varies accordingly.
Cadex Defense Arca Mount
Cadex Defense new Arca mount allows you to lock in the mount and not rely on the friction of the mount. By adding two locking pins on the bottom of MLOK or Harris mounts allows the mount to lock into the middle of the Arca mount. The system is quiet and does not make any noise when adjusting. MSRP currently not available.
Cheeterz packages their ammunition in unique one-time use loading devices that are shipped in 45 round boxes with three preloaded “cheeter” ammunition dispensers. They are made entirely from recycled material such as those plastic trays that you throw away from old ammo boxes. The cheeter allows you to load ammunition with ease and quickly. This might not seem like a big deal, but for those with mobility issues, it can mean the difference between an enjoyable range day and not. Currently available in 9mm with an MSRP of $14.99, and you can send in your old plastic trays from other ammunition boxes or used cheeters and get credit toward your next ammunition purchase.
