Weatherby Mark V Carbonmark Models

Weatherby announced three new Mark V Carbonmark rifles providing custom-built features in a precision rifle. The newly introduced Weatherby Mark V product line launches many all-new models with features and technologies at competitive pricing levels. The three new models are the Mark V Carbonmark, Carbonmark Pro, and Carbonmark Elite.

The new CarbonMark rifles have similar features. They all have the new TriggerTech Mark V trigger. TriggerTech will be supplying Weatherby with Mark V Field Triggers (2.5 – 5.0 lbs) for use in their Mark V rifles.

The bolt release on a Mark V Trigger is built into the trigger lever function – the user pulls the trigger with the bolt open to operate the bolt release. TriggerTech developed and patented Dynamic Overtravel Technology to get away from the overtravel implications of this design. Dynamic Overtravel Technology is comprised of a patented bolt release transfer bar that acts as an overtravel stop when the bolt is closed but clears when the bolt is opened, allowing the trigger to operate as a bolt release lever. This development allows for the zero creep that TriggerTech is known for.

The CarbonMark rifles also feature a sub MOA guarantee, Cerakote on all metal parts, Monte Carlo stocks, sprial fluted bolt, and Weatherby’s Accubrake ST. However, the part that really sets them apart is the BSF Carbon barrel.

Weatherby says the BSF Carbon barrel is lightweight, accurate, and fast-cooling. Using a 416R stainless steel match barrel roll-wrapped with a carbon fiber sleeve loaded under tension to create strength and reduce overall weight. Ninety-five percent of the carbon fiber does not touch the barrel allowing air to foil around the steel and rapidly cool the barrel, adding rigidity and reducing overall weight. This creates an strong barrel that dissipates heat very well and provides consistent accuracy with high shot counts.

The Mark V CarbonMark carries an MSRP of $2,499.00 – $2,599.00 depending on caliber. It is available in five different calibers, 257 Wby. Mag, 300 Wby. Mag, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 Wby. RPM, and 6.5-300 Wby. Mag. The weight is 7 lbs. for the standard actions or 8 lbs. for the Magnum action.

Mark V CarbonMark Pro

When you step up to the Weatherby Mark V CarbonMark Pro, you get a carbon fiber stock instead of the fiberglass stock of the base model. This stock drops the weight roughly half a pound across all calibers.

The lighter weight and carbon stock come at a price. Specifically $500 more per model than the standard CarbonMark. The available calibers remain the same 257 Wby. Mag, 300 Wby. Mag, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 Wby. RPM, and 6.5-300 Wby. Mag.

Mark V CarbonMark Elite

Lastly is the Carbonmark Elite with an adjustable comb carbon fiber stock with a brown sponge pattern. The Elite bumps up the weight to 7.2 lbs. and 8.4 lbs. in the magnum action. The price moves up to $3,299 and $3,399 respectively.
