Wild Hogs Kill Texas Woman

Attack by wild hogs may have caused the death of a woman in Anahuac, TX Sunday. Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said in a press conference that the Jefferson County medical examiner’s office formally ruled the cause of death as “exsanguination due to feral hog assault.”

Christine Rollins’ body was discovered Sunday morning outside an Anahuac home, where she was the caretaker for an elderly couple, according to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office.

Rollins had been the homeowners’ caretaker for over a year, and when she didn’t show up to work on time, the 84-year-old homeowner walked outside to find Rollins’ body on the ground between her vehicle and the front door of the home.

‘There were a lot of things related to the death that didn’t add up. Some of it were animal bites,” Hawthorne said Monday.

“My detectives and the criminal investigation team felt like feral hogs were what it was but we couldn’t come close to announcing until we had the cause of death from the medical examiner’s office,” Hawthorne said.

When asked how bad the crime scene looked, Hawthorne said, “I’m not going to discuss it. There are too many families involved. But in my 35 years, I will tell you its one of the worst things I’ve ever seen.”
